Young Professionals Committee of San Diego
YPC Mission: The Young Professionals Committee (YPC)’s mission is to empower young professionals in San Diego to make a meaningful impact in our community through philanthropy and mentorship. By leveraging our collective skills, networks, and resources, we aim to raise vital funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County.
Since its inception in 2004, the YPC has raised well over $500,000 in funds to support BBBS of SDC mentoring programs. These funds are used to help find mentors for hundreds of children who have been on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
There are three ways to get involved with YPC:
General Membership
Our goal in YPC is not only to support the BBBS organization as a whole but to understand our member’s goals and learn what they want to get out of the organization.
Requirements:
- Email address
- Commit to the mission of YPC and Big Brothers Big Sisters (not required to be a Big)
- Encouraged to volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters events
Benefits:
- Meet and network with young professionals throughout San Diego, all while supporting and giving back to a great cause.
- You’ll be added to YPC’s distribution list to receive exclusive invitations to YPC networking events and happy hours.
- Invitation to attend monthly YPC networking Happy Hours
- Invitation to events supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County
Committee Membership
Requirements:
- General Member requirement
- Commit to the mission of YPC and Big Brothers Big Sisters (not required to be a Big)
- Encouraged to volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters events
- Join the Match Maker Society (small monthly donation. (Suggested $5 minimum; totaling to a $60 investment for one calendar year).
- Pro tip: Ask your place of work to cover or match your donation.
- Monthly networking participation – attend at least 4 happy hours through the year
- Monthly board meeting attendance – required to attend 50% of the meetings in-person or virtually held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and encouraged to support an operational committee within YPC

Board Membership
Requirements:
- General Member and YPC Committee Member requirements
- Required to volunteer at one Big Brothers Big Sisters event throughout the year
- Match Maker Society monthly donation. Suggested $15-$20 minimum (totaling a $180-$240 investment for one year).
- Monthly networking attendance – required to attend 8 happy hours
- Monthly board meeting attendance – required to attend 75% of the meeting in-person or virtually

YPC Events
YPC hosts an annual signature event, “Chocolate & Vino,” as well as “ExeConnect” and other regular networking and volunteer opportunities.
