Our programs ignite children’s potential.

Jewish Bigs mentors help children foster a deeper connection to their Jewish heritage and culture while supporting them in navigating the world around them. Offered in partnership with the Center for Jewish Care at Jewish Family Service of San Diego, which provides comprehensive social services to individuals and families.

Together, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Center for Jewish Care at JFS are partnering on a unique mentoring opportunity for Jewish children, aged seven to sixteen. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves young people in one-to-one mentoring friendships. Bigs and Littles hang out 2-4 times a month for a few hours doing normal, everyday activities, like seeing a movie, going to the beach, playing games, going out to eat, or just hanging out!

Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support Specialist who is there to provide resources and support specific to the Little’s age. With a Big in their life, Littles in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem, earn better grades, and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.

Proven Impacts for children with a Big Brother/Sister:

  • Increased confidence
  • Perform better in school
  • Improved relationships with friends and family
  • Less likely to use drugs/alcohol
